Dear Sir
I travelled back from Karachi to Lahore with my family on 14 February 2018. I booked six economy class seats (i.e. seat no. 13 to 18) in bogie no. 9 under the name Syed Muzaffar Jamil.
Unfortunately I lost the ticket before the departure therefore I reached the railway station 3 hours early to sort out the matter by paying 10% penalty as per railway rules. The attendant at railway station informed me that the fine can be paid to the S.T Guard during travel. However, while travelling when S.T Guard (Mr. Khadim Hussain) came and asked me for ticket, I informed him about the situation and showed the willingness to pay 10% penalty. However, he asked me for full ticket amount (i.e. Rs. 9,000) and threatened me that he will drop me and my family at next railway station if I will not pay the full amount. He said since I have purchased the ticket from railway authorized agency (situated at Akbar Chowk Lahore) therefore full amount is required to be paid otherwise if the tickets would have been purchased from railway headquarter then only 10% penalty would have been imposed.
I believe, 10% penalty rules is the railway rule on loss of ticket. It has nothing to do whether the ticket is purchased from railway headquarter or from railway authorized agency. I request you to get the matter thoroughly investigated and pay back my amount after cutting off the penalty because the amount was taken from me forcefully and against the railway rules.
If the railway department would not be able to help me than I will be compelled to take my case to Wafaqi Mohtasib for investigation.
