The captain, Ali Jawed with Daihatsu Mira (car no. BDL-176) arrived at our place once the booking was confirmed. I specified the captain NOT to take the university road route, which has a lot of traffic these days due to the construction taking place. However, the captain still took that route which resulted in covering a 20 minute trip in 62 minutes. Also, my family were very late for an important event and the mental stress caused by the captain’s attitude to my mother was extremely disappointing. His purposely taking the wrong route caused an in-journey cost of Rs. 220 which was totally unreasonable. He even charged for an initial 4- minute waiting time period when my family were already waiting for him before he had even reached our pickup point and did not have to wait for even a single minute. Thus resulting in an outrageous total of Rs. 427 (almost double of the estimated fare).
Upon reaching the destination, my mother gave him Rs. 500. Very conveniently, he told us that he would add the remaining amount in our balance as he did not have Rs. 73 change with him. My family agreed to that but he kept that amount for himself and did not credit it to my mother’s account.
This is the first time me and my family have ever faced such a behavior from the captains of Careem and I can very safely say so as I use Careem’s services very frequently. Furthermore, since yesterday morning, he is harassing my mother by sending weird SMS’s to her personal mobile number from which the booking was made initially.
